How We Built This
From solving legal industry problems to building India's legal tech infrastructure — here's how it happened.
Identifying the Problem: Legal Industry Chaos
Legal practices were drowning in inefficiency. Case files scattered across systems, missed deadlines, frustrated clients. We built RedLion - a case management tool that actually worked. What started as solving workflow problems revealed something bigger: the entire legal industry needed digital infrastructure.

First API: Making Legal Data Accessible
We released a free API for court data. No revenue model, no business plan - just a belief that legal information should be accessible to everyone. This simple API would become the foundation of everything that followed.

Market Validation: Overwhelming Demand
Lawyers, developers, and legal tech companies started using the API. Hundreds of emails asking for more features, more data, more everything. The demand proved there was a real market for accessible legal data infrastructure.

ECIAPI Launch: Unifying Court Systems
We launched ECIAPI on its own domain. Connected District Courts, High Courts, Supreme Court, and Consumer Forums under one API. This was the real beginning of building comprehensive legal data infrastructure for India.

Infrastructure Focus: Building Reliability
We moved from hobby project to serious infrastructure. Running on a single server but focused obsessively on uptime and performance. Legal professionals started depending on our services for their daily work.

Pegasus Project: Learning from Scale
We built Pegasus for a background verification client. The project pushed our systems to their limits and taught us valuable lessons about performance and scalability that informed our future architecture decisions.
Going Green: 100% Renewable Energy
We transitioned all infrastructure to renewable energy sources. Achieved zero carbon footprint for our operations while maintaining performance and reliability standards.
Self-Hosting: Complete Infrastructure Control
We moved to fully self-hosted, solar-powered infrastructure. No more dependency on cloud providers - complete control over our hardware, performance, and costs.

HULK Project: Building the Knowledge Base
We started HULK (Hindustan Unified Litigation Knowledgebase) - our most ambitious project to create a comprehensive database of Indian legal information, cases, and precedents.
Product Expansion: JurisX and More Tribunals
We launched JurisX and expanded ECIAPI to cover specialized tribunals like CAT and NCLT. Significantly increased the breadth of legal data we could provide to users.
Lexient: Proactive Legal Monitoring
We launched Lexient with WatchDog for real-time case monitoring and NewsWatch for curated legal news. Moving from reactive data access to proactive legal intelligence.
Garuda: AI-Powered Legal Analysis
We released Garuda, trained on 9,000+ Indian legal acts. Provides instant legal analysis and interpretation. Planning to add precedent analysis to make it even more powerful.
Backtrack: Immutable Web Archives
We launched Backtrack to create tamper-proof web archives. Solves the problem of evidence disappearing from the internet by creating cryptographically verified snapshots.
